A nun and a priest were stranded deep in the desert after their camel suddenly collapsed and died.<\/p>\n
Their food was gone.<\/p>\n
Their water was almost gone.<\/p>\n
Days passed under the burning sun, and neither had any idea whether they would ever be rescued.<\/p>\n
One freezing night, they sat close together beneath the stars, trying to conserve what little warmth they had left.<\/p>\n
The priest sighed.<\/p>\n
“Sister…”<\/p>\n
She looked at him.<\/p>\n
“I don’t think we’re going to make it.”<\/p>\n
The nun lowered her head.<\/p>\n
“Neither do I, Father.”<\/p>\n
There was a long silence.<\/p>\n
Then the priest nervously said:<\/p>\n
“Before we die, there’s something I’ve always wanted to see.”<\/p>\n
The nun raised an eyebrow.<\/p>\n
“What is that?”<\/p>\n
He hesitated.<\/p>\n
“Your…”<\/p>\n
He stopped.<\/p>\n
The nun waited.<\/p>\n
Finally, he awkwardly finished:<\/p>\n
“Your hair.”<\/p>\n
She stared at him.<\/p>\n
“My hair?”<\/p>\n
He nodded.<\/p>\n
“I’ve never seen it uncovered.”<\/p>\n
The nun smiled.<\/p>\n
“After everything we’ve been through, I suppose that’s harmless.”<\/p>\n
She removed her veil and let her hair fall over her shoulders.<\/p>\n
The priest stared for a moment.<\/p>\n
“Beautiful,” he said.<\/p>\n
The nun smiled.<\/p>\n
“Thank you.”<\/p>\n
Then she looked at him.<\/p>\n
“Since we may not survive the night, there’s something I’ve always wanted to see too.”<\/p>\n
The priest swallowed.<\/p>\n
“What?”<\/p>\n
She pointed at his chest.<\/p>\n
“Your hair.”<\/p>\n
“My chest?”<\/p>\n
He nodded awkwardly.<\/p>\n
“Yes.”<\/p>\n
He opened his robe slightly, and the nun took a curious look.<\/p>\n
She stared for several seconds.<\/p>\n
Then suddenly her eyes became enormous.<\/p>\n
“Father!”<\/p>\n
“What?”<\/p>\n
“I just realized something!”<\/p>\n
The priest leaned closer.<\/p>\n
“What?”<\/p>\n
Her face suddenly lit up.<\/p>\n
“If that’s what I think it is…”<\/p>\n
The priest’s heart raced.<\/p>\n
“Yes?”<\/p>\n
The nun pointed toward the horizon.<\/p>\n
“…then that isn’t a camel!”<\/p>\n
The priest spun around.<\/p>\n
In the distance was a vehicle slowly approaching through the sand.<\/p>\n
He jumped to his feet.<\/p>\n
“A CAR!”<\/p>\n
The nun started laughing.<\/p>\n
“We’re saved!”<\/p>\n
The priest grabbed her hands.<\/p>\n
“We’re alive!”<\/p>\n
They began shouting and waving wildly.<\/p>\n
As the vehicle approached, the priest turned to her and laughed.<\/p>\n
“All this time, I thought we were having our final conversation.”<\/p>\n
The nun smiled.<\/p>\n
“Father, apparently the real miracle was having terrible eyesight.”<\/p>\n
