A married couple was asleep when the wife suddenly woke her husband at **3 a.m.**<\/p>\n
She grabbed his arm and whispered:<\/p>\n
“Wake up!”<\/p>\n
The husband groaned.<\/p>\n
“What?”<\/p>\n
“I think someone is downstairs.”<\/p>\n
He immediately sat up.<\/p>\n
“What?”<\/p>\n
“I heard something.”<\/p>\n
He grabbed a flashlight and reluctantly got out of bed.<\/p>\n
“Stay here.”<\/p>\n
His wife nodded.<\/p>\n
He walked downstairs.<\/p>\n
First, he checked the kitchen.<\/p>\n
Nothing.<\/p>\n
Then the living room.<\/p>\n
Nothing.<\/p>\n
He checked the hallway.<\/p>\n
The back door was locked.<\/p>\n
The windows were closed.<\/p>\n
He even looked behind the curtains.<\/p>\n
Still nothing.<\/p>\n
After several tense minutes, he returned to the bedroom.<\/p>\n
He sighed.<\/p>\n
“There’s nobody here.”<\/p>\n
His wife stared at him.<\/p>\n
She didn’t look relieved.<\/p>\n
Instead, she smiled strangely.<\/p>\n
The husband frowned.<\/p>\n
“What?”<\/p>\n
She quietly said:<\/p>\n

Then slowly turned toward the hallway.<\/p>\n
“Wait…”<\/p>\n
His wife whispered:<\/p>\n
**”Exactly. So whose wet footprints did you just follow through the house?”**<\/p>\n
The husband grabbed the flashlight again.<\/p>\n
They both stared at the floor.<\/p>\n
A trail of wet footprints led from the basement door…<\/p>\n
straight toward their bedroom.<\/p>\n
And then suddenly stopped.<\/p>\n
Right beside the bed.<\/p>\n
The husband swallowed.<\/p>\n
“Call the police.”<\/p>\n
His wife reached for her phone.<\/p>\n
Then paused.<\/p>\n
“Already did.”<\/p>\n
He looked at her.<\/p>\n
“When?”<\/p>\n
She smiled nervously.<\/p>\n
“While you were downstairs.”<\/p>\n
Just then, they heard a loud knock at the front door.<\/p>\n
Neither of them moved.<\/p>\n
